Cycle-Works launched the Velo-Safe locker in the United States at the annual Pro-Walk / Pro-Bike® conference, organised by the National Center for Biking and Walking.  This year’s conference was held in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Chattanooga is a real bike and pedestrian friendly city with great cycling facilities, like the famous Walnut Street Bridge, and sprinkled with road signs reminding drivers to share the road.  That message really seems to have hit home as we were courteously given priority by drivers as we walked to the conference center each day.  This was quite unnerving to a Brit, grown used to some antagonism in these situations.

The show itself was a great success, well attended by walking & cycling professionals and advocates from across North America.  We were delighted with the positive response to our locker which offers a much more space-efficient solution for secure bike parking.  The Velo-Safe’s unique shape gives much more flexibility for installing into tight spaces whilst the rugged steel construction offers great strength, durability, security and the ability to mount on a variety of surfaces.  Steel is also in many ways the ultimate green material being almost infinitely recyclable.

The demonstration unit we presented at the conference impressed Chattanooga City officials so much that they asked to keep it! This locker has now been left in Chattanooga for the city to trial at various public locations. If you’d like Velo-Safe for your site we’re pleased to announce it is now available for direct delivery for customers in the US – contact us for a quotation.

* Many thanks to Bcycle for loaning us the bicycles to display inside our locker.  Bcycle is a public access hire bike system – find out more at their website.
